How long can I refrigerate or freeze breast milk?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), freshly expressed breast milk can be safely refrigerated for up to 4 days. According to the CDC, frozen breast milk is best used within 6 months and is acceptable to use up to 12 months if it stays frozen the entire time. How much milk does the Pump + Post Kit hold?
Each domestic Pump + Post Kit holds up to 36 oz. (1 L) of breast milk.

How long will my milk stay refrigerated in a Pump + Post Kit?
Once the Pump + Post Kit is activated, it provides up to 72 hours (3 full days) of refrigeration. This helps keep your milk cold even if there are unexpected shipping delays.
Can I use my Pump + Post Kit as a refrigerator and add more milk before shipping?
No. The Pump + Post Kit is designed to stay closed once activated. Please do not open the kit after activating the cooling unit and packing your milk.
How much milk does the Pump + Check Kit hold?
Each Pump + Check Kit can hold up to 270 oz. (8 L) of frozen breast milk—approximately 7–9 days’ worth, depending on your supply.
How long will my milk stay refrigerated in a Pump + Carry Kit?
The Pump + Carry Kit keeps milk cool for up to 24 hours.
Using Ice Packs: Best Practices
For the Pump + Carry and Pump + Check kits:
- Ice packs must be frozen for at least 24 hours before use
- Ice packs should be fully frozen for best performance
